Stewards in Action Level 2 – The Next Step

Objectives for this one day course are for participants to learn, understand and engage with:

• The roles and responsibilities of the Shop Steward how to handle grievances and complaints
• Steps of the grievance process
• How to write a grievance report

This course is designed for any Unit Executive Officer or Shop Steward who represents members, meets with management on behalf of the Union, and has previously completed the Stewards in Action, Level I course.

  • Entry-level stewards training
  • Introduction for new stewards to the structure and history of SEIU-West
  • Role as a Shop Steward
  • How to represent members
  • Identify grievances
  • Investigate concerns
  • Fill out investigation sheets and grievances
  • Communication with members on Union issues

Shop Steward 1 Workshops: Moose Jaw

Invitations have been sent to new Shop Stewards who expressed interest in attending the Level 1 Shop Steward training sessions scheduled for Dec 10 and 11, 2013 in Moose Jaw.

If you were not invited for either of these dates, do not worry, your name is still on the list for future opportunities.
