Spotlight on Support Workers: Judith

Spotlight on Support Workers is a way for you to get to know the hardworking people – mainly women  – who provide support to Elmwood Group Homes (EGH) residents who are unable to fully care for themselves. They are currently taking job action in order to achieve fair pay (it’s been FOUR YEARS since they’ve had a pay raise):

Judith is a Support Worker at EGH who has her Rehabilitation Worker Diploma. Hear what she has to say in her own words: Judith

Part of the job I like best is getting to know the residents and helping them achieve their independence. Having worked at EGH for the past 20 years, I have grown alongside them.

But since everything has gone up in price, having no raise in four years has been difficult. Sometimes I’m not able to pay all the bills or help my parents – I’ve had to borrow. Hearing that the employer is offering a zero percent pay increase or any unfair wage increase is like ‘fake news’.

Take a stand for fairness with Support Workers like Judith – send a letter of support today!
