Join Support Workers at their upcoming info-picket on Wednesday, February 28th from 5-6pm. We’ll be meeting at the Taylor St. E and Arlington Ave. intersection in Saskatoon (just down the street from Elmwood Residences) – hot chocolate and leaflets will be provided! February 28 is also Anti-Bully Day, so Support Workers and their allies want to stand up to the bullying tactics the employer is using at the bargaining table – why won’t the employer offer a wage increase when they have the funding for an expensive lawyer and higher paid Support Workers from Nurse Next Door?
What’s the issue?
- Support Workers at EGH have not received a pay raise since 2013. That means Support Workers have experienced a wage cut due to the rising cost of living combined with the lack of a pay increase in four years
- The employer claims they have no extra money for wages. However, the employer has money to spend on Nurse Next Door (NND) to replace Support Workers temporarily. NND rates to the general public are about $30 to $35 dollars per hour – twice the rate Support Workers at EGH make!
It’s hard to provide a better quality care environment with consistent staffing when employees go for four years with no pay raise. So please, join Support Workers in their struggle for fairness – join them in an information picket outside Elmwood Lodge at the Taylor and Arlington intersection on Wednesday, February 28 at 5pm. And be sure to take a minute to send a letter of support here!
