Bargaining Bulletin No. 5: Southeast Cornerstone Public School Division

Sisters and Brothers,

Your Southeast Cornerstone Bargaining Committee met with the Employer on Feb 13th and 14th. We are pleased to announce that the parties have reached a tentative agreement.

As you all know, every school district in the province recently received a letter from the Ministry of Education setting out very specific cost containment directions, which could include concessions from their employees. We held membership meetings in Estevan and Weyburn Jan 31 and Feb 2 to discuss the Ministry’s direction to the Boards and to get direction from members on how to move forward to conclude bargaining.

Your committee heard the resolves in the meetings and we worked hard on your behalf to achieve this agreement. We believe this tentative agreement meets your goals and objectives. While general wage increases were not achievable at this time, we did not agree to any concessions and were able to protect all the benefits and privileges you currently enjoy.

Your committee will be holding membership meetings to ratify the tentative agreement in:

  • Estevan: Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 6:30 pm
    Legion Hall: 1317 – 4th Street
  • Weyburn: Thursday, March 23 Weyburn at 6:30 pm
    Legion Hall: 150 – 3rd Street

Please make every effort to attend one of the two ratification meetings to hear the information presented, and vote on the tentative agreement.

We would like to extend our thanks to you, our colleagues and fellow union members, for your support and encouragement. Your participation in your Union makes the Union strong.

In solidarity,

Your South East Cornerstone Bargaining Team: Patti Langedahl (Unit Chair), Bonita Brenner, Kerrie Boyd, Maureen Jackiw, Armond Hauglum & Rob Schultz
SEIU-West Staff: Shelley Johnson (Union Representative) & Rebecca Kram (Negotiations Officer)
