Bargaining Bulletin no. 3: Town of Shaunavon

Greetings Sisters and Brothers,

Your Collective Agreement expired on March 31, 2015. After excessive delays, your Bargaining Team was able to finally return to negotiations yesterday (April 26th).

While we didn’t meet face-to-face with your Employer, we were able to achieve a settlement on a revised collective agreement with the assistance of a government appointed conciliator.
We recognize this settlement is not what most of you would have hoped for, but we believe it is the best that can be achieved in this tough economic climate. The Agreement is for a three year term (April 1, 2015 to March 31, 2018) and provides for a 1.5% wage increase on April 1st of each year plus a signing bonus of up to $750. Your Bargaining Team members have copies of the full settlement and are prepared to share that with you.

We will be conducting a membership meeting on Thursday, May 5th at 5:00pm in the basement meeting room of the Elk’s Hall. At this time we will respond to any questions you may have regarding the settlement and then conduct a vote on the question of ratification. Please note, you must attend this meeting in order to cast a ballot.

If you have any questions or concerns about your workplace or your Collective Agreement, you are encouraged to contact the Member Resource Centre (MRC) at 1-888-999-7348 (follow the prompts). The MRC Officers are able to answer your questions and, if necessary will forward your concerns to the Union Representative for your workplace.
