Greetings Sisters and Brothers:
We received word on Friday morning that the Employer had ratified the new Collective Agreement at their Board meeting the previous day. With this advice the new Collective Agreement including all revised language came into effect on Friday, May 22, 2015. The new rates of pay are fully retroactive to September 1, 2014.
The parties will now work on outstanding issues such as revisions to Article 1.02 (Scope) and the merger of the seniority lists required due to the amalgamation of the two Units under this single Collective Agreement. This must be completed in order to finalize the Collective Agreement before the parties can sign and produce it for distribution to the members by the start of the next school year.
There have been a number of questions regarding lay-off notices that some employees received since the return to work from the strike. As these lay-off notices are dated prior to May 22, 2015, they must follow the language of Article 4 (Lay-off, Reassignment and Termination) from the old Agreement.
