Who Won the Food Services Week Bake Off?

We knew SEIU-West Food Service workers were awesome at what they do, but we never knew just how awesome they really are!!

We had incredible feedback from our Food Services Week contest, where food service members could send us photos of their favourite treat which were then tasted by coworkers and the clients, residents and/or patients in their facility. The ratings are in, and here are the winners!!

Bake off second place winner Marie’s pumpkin cheese cake from Lafleche Health Centre.

Bake off second place winner Carol’s zucchini cake from Lafleche Health Centre.

In second place, we have a tie – two lovely ladies from Lafleche Health Centre took advantage of the seasonal vegetables they had available to create amazing treats! Carol Barrett made a scrumptious looking chocolate zucchini cake, while Marie Radfelder decided to present a fall inspired Thanksgiving pumpkin cheese cake! Carol and Marie’s colleagues said both treats were “great, amazing and delicious” and said they always make amazing cuisine. Congrats you two!! Lafleche Health Center is certainly lucky to have you feeding them on a regular basis.

The first place prize goes to Olive Tizzard and Debbie Nicholson from Providence Place in Moose Jaw!! Wow these women sure know how to make your mouth water! Together, Olive, Debbie and a few kindly helpers, baked up a storm, making apple pastry rosettes and artistically designed chocolate covered strawberries. What did the people in their facility have to say about their efforts? Overwhelmingly positive because the treats disappeared quickly, with one resident giving them a 10/10 and commenting, “yum yum really good!” and proceeded to have another. Other reviews included “make it again!” and “delicious, not too sweet, just perfect”.  There was even a 10.5/10! Wonderful teamwork everyone and congratulations!!
