Wow!! We had an amazing response from members at SEIU-West who recognize the amazing and vital work that Environmental Service members do in our health care sector! SEIU-West held a contest for Environmental Services Week where members could nominate their fellow SEIU-West members who work admirably within their Environmental Services position. While extremely difficult to choose, we have our winners!!
In 3rd prize, we couldn’t decide – what is more, they come from the same workplace!! Donna Claypool, who works at Porteous Lodge, is known for her passion and pride in the work she does, and ensures residents are warm every Christmas as she buys blankets for the residents; this gesture highlights her caring attitude. As well as in 3rd place, we have Susan Penner from Porteous Lodge, who was nominated for her incredible work ethic. Her co-workers say working with her is “always memorable” and she is certainly valued for her considerate and pleasant attitude. And our final 3rd place winner is Edgar Reonal, again an employee at Porteous Lodge, who works exceptionally in Environmental Services. He is known for the spotless floors he maintains and contributes as a hardworking and incredible addition in teamwork initiatives. We congratulate all three awesome 3rd place winners!!
In 2nd prize, Norma McKechnie, an outstanding employee at Providence Place, was nominated due to her excellent work but also her kindly manner in which she treats all those around her. She goes above and beyond by ensuring that all residents are well looked after and assists CCAs to ensure that everyone is safe. She is always thought of with a smile. Congratulations Norma!!
And finally, in 1st place, not only was she nominated, but nominated by three different people!! Pat Martens has an incomparable reputation at St. Ann’s Senior Citizens Home – she is recognized as a wonderful person to work with and “does the best at everything”. Residents come first with Pat. She continually welcomes and encourages them. Pat is also known for her appreciated sense of humour; her colleagues and the residents value the laughs they share with her. “Her compassion for residents and staff is amazing!” We agree!! Huge congratulations to Pat Martens!
