The Unit Executive is happy to announce that a tentative deal for a new Collective Agreement has been reached with the Employer.
The tentative agreement is for a three year collective agreement, January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2013 with general wage increases of 3% in each year. While we did not achieve everything we had hoped for, we made some significant improvements. We were also able to hold off some serious concessions sought by the Employer.
Details of the Deal
In addition to the items previously agreed to and reported in the March, 2011 Bargaining Report, the parties agreed to the following:
Employee Benefits – the Employer will continue to pay the full premiums for the Health and Dental Plans for all existing employees. Any new employee hired as of August 1, 2011 will have to pay a small portion of their premiums (approximately 25% of the total monthly cost). We capped these rates at $13.00/month for single coverage and $27.00/month for family coverage.
Per Diem – the Employer will continue paying a $40.00 per diem to any employee who is required to be out of town overnight. We agreed to write the manner in which the payments will be made into the language of the Agreement. This will serve to bind the practice for the life of the Agreement.
Duration and Monetary
The term of the new Collective Agreement will be from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2013 with general wage increases as follows:
All amendments to the Collective Agreement will take effect on the date of exchange of written notice of ratification by the parties. All persons employed with the Employer as of the date of the exchange of written notice of ratification will be eligible for the retroactive pay back to January 1, 2011.
The membership will meet to vote on this package on Friday, July 22, 2011 at 5:00pm. The meeting will be held in the Austrian Club, 320 Maxwell Crescent, Regina. We hope to see everyone at the meeting.
