TENTATIVE AGREEMENT REACHED!

The parties met on May 9 and 10 and at the end of the day walked away with a tentative settlement for a new Collective Agreement covering the period April 1, 2008 to March 31, 2012.

Major highlights of the settlement include:

 Wage increases:

  • April 1, 2008 – 4%
  • April 1, 2009 – 2%
  • April 1, 2010 – 1.5%
  • April 1, 2011 – 2%

Full wage retroactive increases to April 1, 2008

Increases to Weekend Premium to $1.80/hr. and Shift Premium to $2.10/hr., both retroactive to October 25, 2010.

A new Extendicare-specific “Offer and Decline” Call-in process for scheduling hours of work.

We are keeping this Update brief as a detailed information package regarding the settlement has been distributed in the workplaces and information meetings in Regina, Moose Jaw and Saskatoon are planned for May 24 & 25. Look for notices in your workplaces for meeting times and locations.   A ratification vote will be conducted in your workplaces on Tuesday, May 31st

Your Bargaining Committee encourages all of you to come out to the meetings and give us your comments and feedback on the new agreement.   We will be recommending acceptance of the agreement.  We encourage everyone to come out to vote on the tentative Collective Agreement
